I’d like to tell you all about one of my favourite country parks, Langley Park, and all the stuff you’ll want to see there with the children.
In this series of blogs I will share my favourite parks and wild outdoor spaces that can be visited from the Hillingdon area.
Langley Country Park in Buckinghamshire is one of the quieter parks in the area, perfect for escaping the crowds on a hot summer’s day. It has plenty of room as well as all the usual amenities and also some lovely gardens.

Langley Park with Children
Playground
A nice small wooden playground with swings, playhouses and slides. It’s located within sight of the carpark, which is very convenient though it might be hard to get the kids past it to explore the rest of the park! There is also plenty of open space in the next field for running and ball games.
There are also children’s events run by the park service at various times of year, often den building and similar takes place in the school holidays but must be booked in advance.
Nature & walks
Formal gardens
The formal gardens are just past the cafe and have a fantastic display of rhododendrons in flower in May and June. The twisting paths are great for exploring with little ones, and are all paved for easy buggy access. You can also find a historic viewpoint with a vista over to Windsor castle.
Arboretum
Found about 20 minutes walk from the carpark, this enclosed area has a garden of unusual trees and beautiful daffodil displays in spring.
Lake
A pretty 30 minute walk takes you to the landscaped lake where there are usually a few ducks waiting for you.
Woodland
Plenty of patches of woodland surround the park, and some are planted with more unusual trees such as the avenue of giant pine trees. There are often dens already built in the woods which can provide lots of entertainment, and plenty of logs and trees to climb.
Eating
Cafe
I always find that the Cafe is very important when I visit a park with my children! Langley Park tearoom has been recently extended and now has both indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a pleasant little outdoor cafe run by San Remo catering, handily located right next to the car park and playground.
Picnics
There are plenty of picnic tables in the field in front of the car park, and also in the playground itself.
Toilets
Toilets and baby changing can be found via an outside entrance next to the cafe.

By Car
The pay and display car park is a reasonable size, it does have a height barrier at 1 meter 90 which is fine unless you drive a van. If you visit this park often you can buy a yearly parking permit covering Langley park, Black Park and Denham Park.
By public transport
The number 3 bus from uxbridge goes to within 15 minutes walk from the park. Check the bus company website for up to date information.
