Baby Plan – photograph all baby’s first year

My baby plan is all about capturing the stages in the first year as baby changes.  Life with a newborn is a fantastic journey of discovery, from meeting them for the very first time to those first smiles, first steps and first independence.   Booking a set of 3 or 4 sessions has several advantages

  • I will contact you to remind you to book your session a month or so before the times decided – ensuring that you remember to fit this into your busy schedule with baby and that I have time in my schedule for you.
  • You get a discount over the usual price of separately booked sessions.
  • You get a set of matching images to remember your baby’s first year

So what stages do I photograph?

  • Newborn

The very best time for newborn photographs is between 6 and 14 days old,  when baby is still tiny and relatively sleepy.  At this session I will capture portraits of your newborn clothed or unclothed, close up of details and portraits of the whole family with their new addition at this special time.

Newborn babies

  • Three months / expressions

The first 3 months produce the greatest changes, from a newborn who couldn’t even focus on your face a 3 month old baby  is watching everything and exploring the movement of their hands and feet.  Smiles and giggles and funny expressions are likely at this age.

  • Six months / moving

Beginning to get the hang of their bodies at this age babies may be lifting their heads and looking around, perhaps sitting and some even crawling.

  • One year / standing

At one year your baby is growing up!  Every baby is different but common milestones are standing, cruising or even walking, and they are certainly going to love interacting with parents.  We can also include special birthday shots such as a cake smash to celebrate this time.

Every baby is different so you can choose to fine tune these sessions to capture your little one’s milestones – your sessions can be used spread over up to 15 months.
My clients either book the whole set up front or can choose an add on once they have seen the lovely pictures from their newborn session.  Get in touch for more details or to book your newborn session, or look at more sessions on the blog.

I come to your house to meet your new family just as it is. I keep everything calm, simple, and guided so you can relax into it.
Don`t worry, as a natural baby and family photographer and mum of twins, I`m used to the chaos new babies bring to the home, so if we have to move piles of baby stuff just to sit down that is fine!

Why is April is the easiest month for family photos?
April has the most vibrant nature - the bright green leaves are coming through, the bluebells and 100 other flowers are out, and the sun is shining - making being outside irresistible!
The light is soft - the sun still low enough for flattering light.
The weather is warming, and not too hot or too cold - everyone is comfortable. Even those like me who hate the heat can bask in the sun in April!!
It makes it much easier to keep things relaxed and natural.
If you have been waiting for the right time, this is it!
We`ve nearly run out of April, and I have a limited amount of sessions available over the next 4 weeks as spring rushes to its end! DM me to make a plan for your family photography session in nature!

If you go down to the woods today you will find not only bluebells, but STICKS. The best toddler toy ever made, according to our tester this weekend.
I did my first outdoor nature family photoshoot in the bluebell woods near Ruislip this weekend and the bluebells are just perfect - though I`m pretty sure the toddler didn`t care about bluebells, just STICKS!
The rest of the woods is feeling fresh and green also as the leaves are coming out but still letting the sun shine through when it feels like it.
One last spot for my spring woodland bluebell mini sessions is available on Saturday 18th (this weekend!) drop me a message for details!

There is lots on to get the kids outside over Easter. Despite the weird weather it has been mostly sunny today, so here are some recommendations of Easter trails where there is a cafe to retreat to!

Rickmansworth Aquadrome - The Great Egg-Scape puzzle trail, watch out for the illusions, and check out the high-tech augmented reality Easter egg hunt. (I put this first because the @thecafeinthepark is my favourite park cafe ever! Check out the cakes!)

@kewgardens - interactive Octonauts themed trail for 3-6 year olds. This playful trail gives children the chance to take on an exciting mission, helping honeybees while learning about the natural world in a hands-on way.

The Great Eggscape easter egg hunt at @cliveden_national_trust - The Easter bunny needs your help to track down the runaway eggs hiding around the gardens. Make your way along the trail and expect games and activities along the way.

The Cracking Black Park Easter Trail @bucks_country_parks - Join us for an animaltastic egg trail in Black Park. See if you can find all the hidden animal characters & giant Easter eggs in the woods! (They also have a new cafe to try out on the near side of the lake)

@headstone_manor_museum Gnome trail - Pick up your free trail sheet at the Manor entrance, find all the pesky gnomes and win a prize! (The moat cafe should reopen from tuesday!)

Have fun and I hope you catch some sunshine!

Play is how children learn, and it is when their personalities show off and grow. So we don`t just play in my photo sessions to keep them happy, but to make photos that show off how they look when they are having fun and just being the age they are right now.

One minute you are holding a tiny newborn in your arms. The next, they are racing through a field of daffodils with muddy shoes and a huge sense of adventure.
This is why I love photographing families outdoors. Children move, explore and show their personalities when they have space around them. A walk through the spring flowers often turns into the most natural moments - curious little hands reaching for petals, big smiles, and parents watching it all unfold.
These are the stages that pass so quickly, and photographs help hold onto them.
I am a family photographer based in Ruislip, Hillingdon creating relaxed outdoor family photography across West London and the surrounding areas. My sessions are designed to capture real moments of growing families rather than stiff poses.
