Baby Plan – photograph all baby’s first year

Growing up photos of twins

My baby plan is all about capturing the stages in the first year as baby changes.  Life with a newborn is a fantastic journey of discovery, from meeting them for the very first time to those first smiles, first steps and first independence.   Booking a set of 3 or 4 sessions has several advantages

  • I will contact you to remind you to book your session a month or so before the times decided – ensuring that you remember to fit this into your busy schedule with baby and that I have time in my schedule for you.
  • You get a discount over the usual price of separately booked sessions.
  • You get a set of matching images to remember your baby’s first year

4 portraits growing up

So what stages do I photograph?

  • Newborn

The very best time for newborn photographs is between 6 and 14 days old,  when baby is still tiny and relatively sleepy.  At this session I will capture portraits of your newborn clothed or unclothed, close up of details and portraits of the whole family with their new addition at this special time.

Newborn babies

  • Three months / expressions

The first 3 months produce the greatest changes, from a newborn who couldn’t even focus on your face a 3 month old baby  is watching everything and exploring the movement of their hands and feet.  Smiles and giggles and funny expressions are likely at this age.

  • Six months / moving

Beginning to get the hang of their bodies at this age babies may be lifting their heads and looking around, perhaps sitting and some even crawling.

  • One year / standing

At one year your baby is growing up!  Every baby is different but common milestones are standing, cruising or even walking, and they are certainly going to love interacting with parents.  We can also include special birthday shots such as a cake smash to celebrate this time.

one year old babies

Every baby is different so you can choose to fine tune these sessions to capture your little one’s milestones – your sessions can be used spread over up to 15 months.
My clients either book the whole set up front or can choose an add on once they have seen the lovely pictures from their newborn session.  Get in touch for more details or to book your newborn session, or look at more sessions on the blog.

So who can you bring to a mini session? These shoots are 'mini' so bring just your closest family! That's usually just one or two parent(s) and your child(ren), plus any furry members of the family. Sadly there won't be time to include extended family or grandparents in a mini session (my regular shoots are ideal for this). If you're thinking of including your doggy best friend muddy paws and wagging tails make the best outdoor memories! We’ll capture real-life moments with kids - with or without dogs too. Messy, funny, and full of personality, but polished just enough to hang proudly on your wall. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed these purple loosestrife flowers at the lido before. Looking great and I had to wait ages to get a pic without people posing in them! Doing a yearly project of photos is a great way to notice and remember all the seasonal changes. Video timelapse to come!. #ruisliplido #ruislip #iloveruislip #timelapsephotography

You might have noticed that I love finding water to swim in whereever I can. If you fancy some urban family photos there are lots of places in London that we can add some water sparkles to your images, or even get soaking wet! Here's one from when I had my photos taken a couple of years ago. #familyphotographylondon

If you are in the city but could do with a bit of a green oasis relaxation, find this spot in central London hidden between the skyscrappers. St Dunstan's in the East is a ruined medieval church, which after bomb damage in the 40's was preserved as a luscious garden, with a small trickling fountain and lots of picnic spots. You can find St Dunstan in the East a 10 minute walk from Tower Hill tube and has a background of shiny glass buildings of the corporate world. Surrounded by more obvious sights, such as the tower bridge, the tower of London, and the Monument, there is lots to see. There are so many great city locations in London for urban photo adventures.

If you'd rather go wild in the city than the countryside, and love London and the hustle and bustle, this is the photo shoot for you. Capture some real family pictures and some iconic locations in a city adventure session, whether you are just visiting, staying or leaving.I think Londoners sometimes loose sight of the interesting bits of London - whereas the tourists are whizzing around trying to see it all. I've lived in London for about 25 years now, and regard myself as a long stay tourist (but still a northerner at heart). I still find new things to explore in London. I can take you to some of my favourite routes - with views and sights, but still enough space for us to take some vibrant electric city pictures.

I've been thinking hard about how to improve the experience of having family photographs. When I started out it used to take me 2 hours to get enough great photos in a family photo session. With experience I got that down to 1 hour.But...Now I am going to start offering half day, 3 hour plus photo sessionsBecause the enemy of great photos is photo stress. The parents get stressedThey give it to their children"Stand still""Smile now""We only have an hour"So lets take that stress away with a longer photo sessionNot 3 hours solid of photos. I`ve been thinking hard about how to improve the experience of having family photographs.
When I started out it used to take me 2 hours to get enough great photos in a family photo session.
With experience I got that down to 1 hour.
But...
Now I am going to start offering half day, 3 hour plus photo sessions
Because the enemy of great photos is photo stress.
The parents get stressed
They give it to their children
"Stand still"
"Smile now"
"We only have an hour"
So lets take that stress away with a longer photo session
Not 3 hours solid of photos. Of course not. (that would be mad)
But 3 hours in which to choose the best time to take the photos
We`ll go on an adventure
I`ll show you my favourite places
The kids will investigate, the trees, the bugs, the nature
We`ll play. Bubbles, balls, feed the ducks
Stop for a picnic.
Distract ourselves with icecream
The photo session isn`t something we are trying to get out of the way, it`s the fun outing of the day.
Quality family time
So don`t tell the kids that they are going out to a photo session ("Stand still, Smile now")
But that we are going out for a family adventure
And that I`ll take some photos while we are there, because they are superstars!
Super fun
Super explorers
