1) Helping to decorate

For me this is the official start to the season – when the house starts to be festooned with glittery stuff, and the countdown begins! Letting the kids join in with decorating is great fun, even if you do want to adjust it all when they are done!

2) Christmas Tree

Once you’ve spent all that effort decorating the tree, memorialise it!  This is a good one for seeing how much the kids have grown each year too.

3) Christmas Crafts

There is always something to make at Christmas! Christmas decorations and Christmas cards can be made with as much imagination as you like. You might not be able to keep all the 1000’s christmas crafts but capture the joy of making them forever.

4) Christmas Cooking

We all need a few extra treats in the run up to Christmas. And it’s a great time to teach the kids how to count, weigh, mix and wash up, all with the excuse of making something yummy.

5) Wrapping up presents

Help your kids learn the joy of giving by making or choosing presents for the family, then decorating them for under the tree.

6) Santa visits!

Are you going to see the man himself? All Santas love having their photo taken!

7) Christmas lights

Sparkling lights make the dark nights worthwhile. Check out the local neighbourhood after dark, or book into a light trail.

8) Dressing up

Nativity shows, Santa outfits, Christmas pyjamas, or something made of cut up paper, the costume options are endless!

9) Big family photo!

if you have the whole family coming for a Christmas visit, try and put aside 5 minutes for a shot with everyone in. Even if the teenagers object!

10) Christmas Eve

What are your Christmas Eve traditions? It’s stockings up and mince pies for Santa here.

11) Christmas morning

Much excitement and opening, but try and grab just a couple of shots in the chaos!

12) Christmas dinner

What is your favourite part? Ours is always the flames of nana’s homemade Christmas pudding (and eating it of course).
